Why We Celebrate National Truck Driver Appreciation Week

Last week we celebrated the 2019 National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. A week where the entire trucking industry comes together to recognize the 3.5 million professional truck drivers who safely and professionally deliver goods from coast to coast.

In recognition of those same truck drivers, Kenworth Trucks produced a 3-minute video that focuses on a father and his young daughter taking on a mission to complete a family project. The tagline for the video reads, “Thank you, drivers, everywhere. For delivering life’s quality moments.” This encapsulates the entire message of both the week-long celebration and the focus of the clip; that we should take the time to celebrate and thank these drivers.

Often the things we take for granted wouldn’t be readily available if it weren’t for drivers constantly transporting them, which ATA President and CEO Chris Spear expresses nicely.

“Truck drivers are an integral part of the nation’s growing economy and deserve to be celebrated by their companies, customers, neighbors, families, and friends.” Everything that we consume – groceries, school supplies, clothes, medicine – gets delivered by a truck driver whether it’s to your front door, your local market, or your workplace. These drivers improve our quality of life by dedicating themselves to safety and making every effort to deliver the things we need efficiently, professionally and responsibly.”

For us here at Papé Kenworth we have the opportunity to celebrate truck drivers as customers, colleagues, and friends. With 14 locations across the west coast, we work to provide quality service, parts, and equipment that not only keeps them on the road but builds valuable relationships that they can rely on. We rely on them in the same way, with over-the-road transportation being an integral part of every industry that Papé is involved in. For Construction & Forestry, truckers provide delivery of equipment and materials. On the Agriculture & Turf side, they deliver produce, fertilizer and other resources. Material Handling often works the most directly, loading and unloading deliveries from warehouses and distribution centers. All of them provide a picture of what we call end-to-end solutions, and connecting every piece is a truck and a driver.

We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without these drivers. They provide a service that’s integral to the success of our business along with 80% of American communities that rely on truck drivers for the delivery of goods and commodities. From all of us here at Papé Kenworth, we want to extend our thanks to all the hard-working and professional drivers that get the job done every day. We hope to continue providing you with the same level of professional and courteous service that you give us, day in and day out.
